Chrome: How to export saved passwords
Warning:Your passwords in the exported file will not be encrypted and will be in a readable form to anyone who can view this file. Delete this file when finished.
- Go to “chrome://settings/passwords ” URL on the address bar.
- Open Chrome Password Manager
- Now, click on the three dots buttons against “Saved Passwords” option. You will see a “Export passwords…” button and click on it.
- Chrome will then show you a prompt verifying you want to export. Click on the “Export Passwords” button.
-
Chrome will then challenge you for your computer login. This is a security check to prevent unauthorized exports of your passwords. Complete the sign in and you will be asked to save your passwords to a file.
- By default, Chrome will assign the file name as “Chrome Passwords” and the file format will be in comma-separated values (CSV). We recommend adding the date to the end of the filename and then saving it to your OneDrive so it is recoverable on your new system.
